After two years of really hard work (and I mean really hard!), we moved our first steps
Ehm, ok, our robots moved their first steps. And most important, I saw my 3-years-research run on real platform.

Crossing a postcard

One month ago, I stumbled upon a very interesting project: PostCrossing
Essentially, it is bookcrossing applied to postcards. What? Are you wondering what all these *crossing things are?
Well, try to click on the link above, or keep reading!

Bookcrossing is “the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise” (cit. by Wikipedia).
You read a book, you like/dislike it, you set it free in the wild, ready to be picked up by another potential reader. Cool isn’t it?

Well, postcrossing is the same concept applied to postcards: you send some postcards, you receive some postcards!
Beyond that, you request one or more addresses, the system randomly selects the addresses, then is up to you to send the postcards! Eventually, the more postcard you send, the more postcard you will receive!

I’m really addicted to stamps, postcards and postmark. Travelling around the world, I always send a postcard to me (this sounds weird, I know), with a fancy stamp, and a-not-so-fancy postcard, hoping in a cool postmark.
(Why I like so much postmark is another story… (please wait few days)…)

I just sent my first five postcards, and I’m looking forward to receive a postcard!

The moosebutter is a group of 4 acappella boys (read more about them in their website). Corey Vidal (the author of first video) aske them the permission to make a video using Star Wars theme.
After the planetary success (more than 3,000,000 of views), the original performers made the second video as response (render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s). That’s all!

Hola!

Eccomi di ritorno da una entusiasmante, divertente, scoppiettante, ma anche formativa esperienza!!! Direttamente da Chianciano… ladies and gentlemen…

Latina!!!! (il nome lo dirò solo dopo il nostro debutto quindi rimanete sintonizzati )

Per chi si fosse perso un pezzo del discorso, sto parlando dell’Improvvisazione Teatrale! E noi, i matti di cui sopra, siamo il primo anno della NovaUrbs, Compagnia Maia, Giorgio Rosa boss/maestro/mentore.

Oh ragazzi, come detto già da qualcun’altro, sono state 78 ore filate di improvvisazioni no stop! E chi l’avrebbe mai detto che saremmo stati… un pò schiappe ma con tanta voglia di imparare e migliorare!

Il nostro debutto a Chianciano detto inter nos è andato bene ma possiamo fare di meglio, essere i primi non è certo la cosa migliore: da un lato è positivo perchè poi stai tranquillo per gli altri giorni, dall’altro fare l’apripista agli altri comunque è una responsabilità… ma va bene, siamo carichi… e domenica debuttiamo anche nella città che ci ha fatto crescere!!!!

Mi raccomando, o voi ignari dell’Imprò, trovatevi un impegno e non ci cercate… almeno fino a domenica, poi fate come vi pare …che dici Giò? più gente c’è meglio è?!?!?!?! no no, state a casa tranquilli che tanto piove :p

Vabbè… fate un pò come vi pare…

Ciao ragazzi!

Dopo tanto penare perchè non scrivevo più nel blog eccomi qui!

Nel frattempo sono successe tante cose… Da dove cominciare?

Ho finito gli esami a novembre, sto preparando la tesi, ho iniziato a lavorare, ci sono state le vacanze di Natale, e poi… ho iniziato un corso di improvvisazione teatrale insieme a Paolo.

Per chi non conoscesse l’improvvisazione teatrale è un particolare genere teatrale (se così si può chiamare) basato appunto sull’improvvisazione. Vabbè, ho capito, non mi sono spiegata, sentite fate così, andate a vedere uno spettacolo e vedrete che rimarrete folgorati! E’ qualcosa di…. senza parole, provare per credere!

Navigando sul web ho trovato un video che forse può rendere l’idea (o forse no… fate voi).

Mi dispiace di non essere riuscita ancora a trovar qualche video di Giorgio Rosa (il mio insegnante, maestro, capo o come volete chiamarlo voi, che per la cronaca nel video è purtroppo visibile solo come renna di sinistra). Aspettando video futuri… buona visione!

Italian style

We Italian folks are well known for many things: our delicious food (just think to a hot smoking pizza, or a super plate of pasta…), our beauty (Rome is THE most beautiful city in the world, and nobody can say different), our smart mind (it was more true in the past than now, but everybody know Galileo Galilei and Leonardo Da Vinci, also know as “the inventor of pasta” by Korean guys. Don’t tell me why, but it is true!).

Many things we are not proud: mafia, politicians, football hooligans.
We have many shortcomings, sometimes we don’t mind too much about the consequences of our actions, and sometimes we do things that are weird to other country people.

It’s true. But we have also many preciousness. We are a sunny folks, we smile almost all the times, but we are able to cry and fight for other people rights. We are warm-hearted to foreigners, even if there are someone that try to mud this, with hate and angry.
Moreover we are self-ironic and we like very much to kid ourself.

Welcome back at home

I was in Japan, 5 months until January 2007.
I went for my doctorate and I work in a very pleasant place.
I found many friends, some of them I cannot forget.
It was hard, live abroad, in a foreigner country. I cannot speak japanese, so it was quite difficult.

But I love Japan. I love this ancient country, so different, where you can walk side by side with a geisha, while praying in the middle of skyscrape.
I will tell you more, maybe, some time.

Anyway, when I came back, at airport I found a big surprise.
My family were there, waiting for me of course. But there were my sister and my friends, with a big surprise.

They had some piece of paper with the writing “Bentornato” (Welcome back) in white and red (the colours of Japanese flag) and when I appeared they changed them into “in Italia” (in Italy) with Italian flag colours.

Did you understand the effect? Maybe not so here there is a “behind scene” of the preparation, a little movie that they made few hours before I landed.

My future sister-in-law shown me it last sunday and my heart had a little jump. Watching it I discover how much work they had done, how much they love me. And I really appreciate it.
I want to say thanks to them, and in particular manner to my sister, that had a so cute idea.
